In this workshop children will explore many different experimental drawing and painting techniques. We will be using a wide range of mediums such as charcoal, conte crayon, ink, watercolour, acrylic paint, texture mediums, metallic paint and masking fluid. The focus will be on building observational skills and exploring different ways of capturing light and movement through drawing.

MULTIPLE MEDIA PORTRAITS 7+

In this workshop children will explore different styles and techniques of portrait making. We will be using a wide range of mediums such as stamps, rendering markers, charcoal, texture mediums, collage and acrylic paint to create several portraits. Children will experiment with different ways to capture the essence of a person with a focus on the face.

SATIN BOWER BIRD - suitable for 6+ years

Satin Bower Bird and his Bower  

In this workshop children will make a sculptural scene of a satin bower bird and his bower using the foundational handbuiling skills of pinching coiling and slab building. Children will learn different surface treatment techniques such as scratching and carving and painting with underglazes. This workshop would particularly suit children who enjoy making detailed work. The work will be fired at the studio and then ready for collection in three to four weeks. 

IMPORTANT-  Classes are only suitable for children who are already attending primary school, not starting kindergarten in Term 1 2025.

SELF PORTRAIT IN A CUP - suitable for 6+ years

Come along to this workshop to make a unique self portrait with a difference. Children will use foundational hand-building skills of coiling and pinching techniques to make a tea cup and then create a fun self portrait to sit inside of it. Children will explore the idea of using a traditionally functional vessel such as a cup, as a non functional sculptural object. In the digital age, this workshop offers an opportunity for children to create a self portrait in an unconventional and creative way. Children will use colourful under glazes s to paint their work which will then be fired and ready for collection in three to four weeks.

IMPORTANT-  Classes are only suitable for children who are already attending primary school, not starting kindergarten in Term 1 2025.
