...FAMILY NEST POTTERY - suitable for 6+ years
Come along to this workshop to make a whimsical family portrait with a difference. Children will use the foundational skills of pinching and coiling techniques to create a unique three dimensional family portrait nestled in a cozy spring nest. In the digital age, this workshop offers an opportunity for children to capture a family portrait in an unconventional and creative way. Children will use colourful underages to paint their work which will then be fired and ready for collection in three to four weeks.
NOTE: The pieces stay at the studio so that they can dry and be fired and glazed. You will receive an email when they are ready but this is a slow process and can take several weeks.

...FUNDAMENTALS OF DRAWING - SINGLE DAY INTENSIVE
Single Day Intensive Masterclass with Jackson Davies
SATURDAY OCTOBER 12
Suitable for ages 16+
10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Price: $150.00*
Class Description.
This workshop is ideal for both beginners eager to grasp the fundamentals of drawing and those looking to enhance their existing skills. Participants will engage in two key drawing exercises: creating a still life and producing a tonal study based on a renowned artwork.
In the first exercise, you will draw a still life arranged in the studio, focusing on observational skills and core techniques such as perspective, proportion, and basic graphite methods. We will also delve into how drawing functions as a form of "visual thinking" and how artists use sketching to explore and develop their ideas. The second exercise involves a charcoal study of a famous artwork from a photograph—previous examples include Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks and Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring.
This activity emphasises how tonal contrasts (light and dark) can convey form and create dramatic effects. Charcoal, with its ability to produce expressive, gestural, and nuanced tones, will be the primary medium used. Jackson will provide detailed explanations and demonstrations to guide you through the drawing process.
The workshop is designed to be a relaxed and supportive environment where the goal is not to produce finished pieces but to gain a deeper understanding of drawing and build confidence in your creative abilities.
Enrollment Confirmation
Please note that by joining this class your payment is held as a place reservation in the class. Whilst this will act as a reservation and will guarantee your place should the workshop proceed it is not a confirmation of enrollment.
